Okay this might tie a lot of threads together on the site but its just something I feel needs to be brought up ie. Where has all the common sense gone?
Day after day I see blinding examples of peoples lack of common sense, for example the lads in Dublin Airport clamping the ambulance. What on earth were they thinking? Its an ambulance even if it was parked half way in the door of the airport it shouldn't be clamped. The tiniest bit of common sense and gumption would tell you that. These peoples blind following of the rules nearly put a life in danger but to make matters worse when they found out their mistake they refused to back down and made the ambulance people pay the fine, but not using the company credit card (cos that obviously wasn't good enough) but made one of the lads get cash from his own personal bank account to pay. COME ON.
Then closer to home a friend of mine (we'll call her my girlfriend) had her car parked by the DLS centre last Saturday (with parking discs up) got a parking ticket because in an effort to keep her car from obstructing the road too much had her wheels slightly on the kerb, now I know that if you park on the kerb you get a ticket, but in this case would it require a real effort on the part of brainpower to notice that this was her intention.
The funniest part of this is that there were cars parked fully on the path and none of them got a ticket. While I'm on about traffic wardens (and I don't wanna go on about them too much, they have a shitty job but someone has to do it) another example of their genius ( and this is only one specific guy) is, during the course of my work I operate as a delivery man and make deliveries to a shop on the quay by where the buses stop, we pull into the bus stop make the quick delivery and get out of the way (the bus drivers don't even complain as long as we're not there when its busy) but this guy won't let us stop there instead we have to move past the bus stop which obviously is off the road and park on the double yellow lines on the road to make the delivery ( incedentally its not illegal to stop on double yellow line for the purposes of loading or unloading or dropping someone off or picking someone up. Its in the rules of the road). This is the same guy that doesn't bat an eyelid at the cars parked up outside the GPO and block a full lane of traffic not to mention block the view of the road from the side street beside it. ABSOLUTE MADNESS
Then of course theres the radiotherapy unit that we're looking for. This should just not be an issue. It should be supplied. End of Story.
The idea that people still have to travel to Dublin for this treatment is barbaric, we have a fantastic hospital in Ardkeen and to give it this piece of equipment would save so many sick people so much effort not to mention their families expenses. But NO we can't have radiotherapy in the south east because some arsehole in Dublin, decides its not economically viable to do it, there's not enough of a concentration of the population in the area to make it worth while. ISN'T TRYING TO SAVE LIVES WORTH WHILE.
It seems to me the whole idea of cop on and common sense has gone out the window.
Now I'm not a genius by any means I'm just another Joe Soap that works everyday like most other blaas but if I can see the stupidity in this then why can't these people in power, these so called learned people.
Its time we spoke up a bit I reckon, those of us on this site have a privilage to be able to air our grievances to others and then together we should be able to create some sort of voice loud enough to be heard by others, then maybe others might join and eventually we might be heard by those that can change things.
SO JOIN WITH ME BLAAS AND SCREAM FOR A RETURN TO COMMON SENSE!!!
