At last, something other than the smoking ban, or for that matter Beckham's Bonking shenanigans. Roy is back in the International fold, and to be honest, my opinion on the matter is, who needs him?
Let's put aside for a minute, Saipan-gate, forget it that half the country hate him because of it, forget the kids, blah, blah, blah.....
The biggest question we all have to ask is, what can he add to this current team? If we were getting the Roy Keane from yesteryear back I would welcome him back with open arms, but we're not, we're getting a tired, worn-out, shadow of his former self. The man has added nothing to United this year, this is the main reason why this season can be seen as a failure by Man U. standards. I'm not going to do the 'pool thing and clutch at straws by saying we're in the cup final, so what? The league is more important. My point is that Keane has nothing to offer.
I hope for Ireland's sake, and for his own sake that I am completely wrong, that he will be instrumental in us qualifying for the world cup and he plays a major part in the finals if we get there, who wouldn't? But I honestly think he wont! He's been rested for a large number of game this season at united, as a matter of fact I have a feeling he'll be at Celtic next season. This may suit him, a much slower paced game there, this may bring the best out of him again.
I'm not going to talk about what he did in Saipan, because I was behind him. But he should have left it at that.
